Sensei Jay Carvalho

Dojo cho, Sensei Jay Carvalho, began training in Aikido in 1995 at Enshinkan Dojo in Newport, RI (later to become Newport Aikido) under Sensei Damon Apodaca. Sensei Carvalho was the only Newport Aikikai student to complete Sensei Apodaca’s uchi deshi or live-in student program. He trained seven days a week and attended all classes as an uchi deshi to fulfill his desire to become an Aikido instructor.

Sensei Carvalho's current rank is 3rd Dan. He has a deep passion and commitment to Aikido and for his students.
